Introducing Mairin Barnes, creator of Sweet Whistle

Friday, February 13, 2015  ///  Real Weddings
She chose her business name, Sweet Whistle, for its likeness to the lovely cardinal (her bona fide good luck charm!) and like its persona, founder Mairin Barnes hopes her creative efforts in the gift marketplace will be both warm and welcoming. For that's what her products are really all about!  A love that began with creating "Will you be my bridesmaid?" gifts and other fun projects for family and friends has blossomed into custom gift boxes that perfectly accompany weddings, corporate events and other special occasions. Filled with objects largely gathered from talented artisans and intertwined with whatever theme her client has in mind, her creative gifts can be shipped to any location and also include holiday specialties and of course, Valentine goodies.

"I like to offer my clients something no one else has seen," says Mairin, explaining her focus on unique offerings from artists across the country who are truly committed to their craft.

With a degree in the history of art from Cornell University and a graduate degree from the Cornell Master of Management in Hospitality Program, Mairin has always appreciated the beauty and sentiment of hand-crafted gifts. Even her time spent in the corporate world found her working more on the entertainment side of client services, which she loved, and prompted her to make a career switch that allowed exploring her creative side on a full-time basis. Since launching Sweet Whistle in the spring of 2014 she's added a touch of whimsy and creative spirit to countless special events. If you're celebrating in the DC area treat your guests to her "Star Spangled Fun" gift box which includes Potomac chocolate and eco-friendly, raspberry scented candles homemade in the DC area, or the "Make Yourself at Home" gift box which features rosemary brown sugar walnuts baked in Baltimore and a down-to-earth guidebook of how to experience the area like a local. To add a delightfully artistic and unique touch to any wedding celebration or special event contact Mairin at info@sweetwhistle.com or visit her website at www.sweetwhistle.com.
